This fully insulated Pellet Pro Double Door is our largest vertical pellet smoker available. If you are looking for a large Vertical smoker this is it.

The Footprint measures H-56″ X W-54″X D-28″

External Cabinet size is H-52″ X W-39″ X D-28″

Internal cabinet size is H-31″ X W-36″ X D-26″ = 16.8 cubic feet.

Rack Square Inches: 380 sq in  (Total Square Inches: 5313 sq inches with using 14 racks)

Plenty of room for 6 – 20lb Briskets or 18 – 8lb Pork shoulders or 24 – 3lb Chickens. With 6 rib racks you can smoke 30 racks of ribs at one time! (Extra rib racks sold separately)  You can also hang 75 LB of sausages. The convection fan will help keep an even temperature throughout the smoker.

*Our Recommendation*

We recommend using a disposable aluminum pan on the bottom shelf to catch any grease or drippings. This will prevent an abundance of grease falling onto the drip pan which may result in a grease fire.
Not only will this prevent a grease fire, but it will also increase the humidity which will help keep your meat moist.

PID Description Overview

Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control is the most common control algorithm used in industry and has been universally accepted in industrial control. The popularity of PID controllers can be attributed partly to their robust performance in a wide range of operating conditions and partly to their functional simplicity, which allows engineers to operate them in a simple, straightforward manner.

As the name suggests, PID algorithm consists of three basic coefficients; proportional, integral and derivative which are varied to get optimal response. Closed loop systems, the theory of classical PID and the effects of tuning a closed loop control system are discussed in this paper.

The Heavy D Stick Burning Heat Diffuser

Turn your existing pellet grill into a stick burner to produce that GREAT stick burner smoke!

Now included with the Double D Vertical Smoker!

  • Diffuser made from heavy 10 gauge steel for even heat distribution and will not warp.
  • Perforated cavities allow the wood to smolder from the burnpot fire and keeps the wood burning.
  • Removable end plate prevent the wood from igniting which would increase the grill temperature.

*Please Note: Due to the additional heat produced from the wood, you may need to crack the grill lid in order to maintain your desired temperature. After wood has been burned completely, the lid can then be closed as normal.*

Important Updates

We take pride in delivering the best smoking experience possible, and in working closely with our amazing customers, we’ve identified a sooting issue affecting some of our smokers. Rest assured, we’ve been hard at work to resolve this!

Here’s what we’ve done:
1) Increased airflow by adding 25% more CFM to the burnpot with updated Duty Cycle parameters.

2) Improved efficiency with 5 additional holes in the vortex-style burnpot.

3) Increased the Fan Motor Duty Cycle to turn on 100% every 15 minutes for 15 seconds to clean any excess ash out of the burn pot to facilitate a clean and efficient burn.

After extensive testing using multiple brands, qualities, and flavors of pellets, multiple variations on the duty cycles, and multiple different variations of burnpot, we believe we have found a viable solution. If you’ve experienced sooting issues, we want to make it right!

    Assembly was extremely straight-forward and everything lined up without exception. I am really impressed with the casters and the ease with which the Double D can be moved. Since its initial burn-in and smoke in early April, I have smoked a total of 166 racks of ribs for various fundraising events at our local high school. I did end up ordering additional rib racks so that I can now smoke 30 racks at a time.The success of these events would not have been possible without the Double D.

    I love it. I have space for days, gone are the days of running out of space while doing sausage or jerky.
    It’s way too much for what I need, but I’m glad for the investment. The quality is perfect, and the support is wonderful. I’ve spoke with Dan and Dennis on multiple occasions with random stupid questions and neither ever hesitated to give me the time of day.

    Temperature is solid, within 5 degrees max, and the overall quality of everything is top notch. There isn’t a better cabinet smoker on the market. And the PID controller is smart, programmed well.

    Add this on top of the stick burning double D, I’m the only guy in the neighborhood that can do it all with half the effort. I love it to death, and hope to use it for many years to come.

    First of all the assembly went smooth as butter. Bolts line up and just magically tighten properly and no problems getting everything perfect before running a burn off. Build quality if top notch and I can’t believe how stout this smoker is. I’ve done a couple smokes and so far it’s been amazing. The pellet consumption is minimal and the temperature is so balanced through out the cabinet it does my budget! Can’t wait to do a larger smoke of 30 pork shoulders soon for a church outing. Brisket I just recently made was perfect and the additional smoke diffuser added extra bark and flavor. Worth every penny. Compared to Rec Teq, Yoder, and Traeger this is the best one to buy. Side note I did use it to reverse sear a steak. Smoked it for 2 hours and then bumped the temp and put my (already hot) cast iron in it to finish.

    I own Lockstock BBQ in Oregon, it’s a BBQ trailer and I installed the “Double D” in the back of the trailer. It’s increased our capacity by a factor of 3x and produces evenly cooked, amazing BBQ! The Addition of their “Heavy D” stick burner converter makes is so if I want extra smoke I can. The temp controller keeps and maintains perfect temp every time!! The only negative about this and it’s ticky tack, is the thermometers on the doors are pretty much just there for looks. With the opening and shutting of the doors so much they get uncalibrated very quickly and are useless. That said, the digital temp controller tells you what the temp of the pit is anyway. So it looks cool, does the job and I’m telling you, WAY cheaper than any other smoker this size! Looking to buy another one!! (Actually hoping that Smoke Daddy might sponsor us one day because the entire trailer is cooking on their products LOL!! )
