It is worth upgrading the heating probe, so we would definitely recommend it. You will see in the photos that we also added the Big Kahuna Cold Smoke Generator for the flexibility of adding smoke for that amazing smoke ring, or to cold smoke some cheese, eggs, bacon, you name it! I had an issue that was mostly my fault and basically by the time i got... read more off the phone with them the second time we had rebuilt the entire electronics of the smoker. I have their vertical pellet smoker with the Heavy D and fan accessories and i just love this smoker. The thought of potentially ruining my smoker was devistating to me but I got them on the phone and in short order they got me what i needed at no charge. It is good to know there are good people building great products right here in the USA. ps; If you haven't cleaned the colleted grease off the bottom for a while be careful when using the HIGH setting. The combination of the circulation fan, sportsman controller low temps and massive cook chamber size allowed me to make some of the best jerky I have made to date. I made about 18 lbs. of pork and turkey jerky. There was plenty of smoke and space! Temps were even side to side and top to bottom.
